Florentino M. “Tino” Sagon, Sr., 106, of Hilo died April 27, 2013, at home. Born Oct. 16, 1906, in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was head chef for the Volcano House Restaurant.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for visitation at 9 a.m.; funeral service follows at 11 a.m. Casual attire is requested; he will be buried at Homelani Memorial Park’s Ilima section.

He is survived by sons, Florentino Sagon, Jr., Randolph (Larrine) Sagon and Leonard (Ann) Sagon of Hilo, Alvin (Nancy) Sagon of Wailuku, Maui, Michael (Judy) Sagon of Waimea; daughter, Clarita (Eric) Waldram of Hilo; sisters, Valentina Sagon, Pauline Sagon, Pilarita Sagon and Leonora Sagon of Philippines; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
